Scope and editorial goal
Best Day aims to answer focused geography questions accurately, clearly and with enough context to help a general reader learn. We do not aim to reproduce entire source databases or publish automatically generated pages without review. Data fields support the page; they are not the whole editorial product.
Source selection
Core country, region, capital and coordinate fields currently begin with the World Bank Country API. We prefer sources with clear institutional ownership, stable identifiers and a public method of access. A source link is shown on each profile so readers can inspect the underlying record.
No single database resolves every geographic or political ambiguity. Where a capital has administrative, constitutional or disputed status, the entry should be checked against additional authoritative material before publication. Entries that cannot be stated responsibly as a simple capital pair are excluded from the automatic collection until they receive individual treatment.
Human review and curation
Profiles are selected and normalized before publication. Country names are made reader-friendly, obvious transliteration issues are corrected, and known ambiguous cases are removed from the simple fact set. Review dates refer to the editorial pass on the Best Day profile, not necessarily the date the source organization last changed its database.
Explanatory paragraphs are written for Best Day. They are designed to clarify what a capital fact means, how regional groupings work and how a learner can retain the information. We do not copy article text from source websites.
Changes and ambiguity
Capitals can change, government functions can be split between cities, and organizations can classify regions differently. A concise page must not hide that complexity when it affects the answer. When an entry requires nuance, we will add an editorial note, expand the article or temporarily remove it from the quiz.
Corrections
Readers can submit a correction through the contact page. Helpful reports identify the page, the statement in question and an authoritative source. We review the underlying data, update the profile where appropriate and refresh its review date. Corrections are not accepted solely because another unsourced page states something different.
For a material error, the priority is to correct the live page. As the publication grows, significant corrections may also be recorded in a public change log.
Advertising and commercial influence
Ads, if enabled, appear only around substantive publisher content and are labelled as advertising. We do not place ads on login, error, contact-confirmation or other dead-end pages. Advertisers do not receive editorial approval rights and cannot pay to change a fact.
